Use of calcium chloride
1. Deicing Agent: Used for de-icing and snow removal on roads. Calcium chloride absorbs heat during dissolution and has a lower freezing point, which helps melt ice and snow quickly. The melted liquid can continue to melt nearby ice and snow.
2. Desiccant: Can be used to dry gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, and others. Calcium chloride is often used in desiccant boxes.
3. Dehydrating Agent: Due to its strong hygroscopic properties, calcium chloride is used as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers, and acrylic resins.
4. Refrigerant: Lowers the freezing point of solutions (the freezing point of calcium chloride solution is -20 to -30°C). Calcium chloride solution is an important refrigerant for refrigeration and ice-making.
